Advent and Christmas

There are many events happening in November and December at Chipman Gaspereau Pastoral Charge and in the community to celebrate Advent and Christmas.


At Chipman Gaspereau Pastoral Charge


Sunday, November 29

11:15 am - Advent 1 Waiting (Chipman United)
  • The Hanging of the Greens
  • The dedication of the newly refurbished Outdoor Nativity Scene
  • Potluck Luncheon
    Please bring hot casseroles, salads, or dessert to share.
  • After the luncheon, stay to deck the halls and help our Decorating Committee prepare the sanctuary and rest of the church for the festival season.

7:00 pm - Advent 1 Waiting (Gaspereau United)
  • Taize Service
    Join us for this contemplative and candlelight service as we prepare our hearts for the coming of the Christ Child.

Friday, December 4

4:30 – 6:00 pm - Turkey Take-Out Dinner
  • A turkey dinner with all the trimmings and our fabulous pies for dessert!
    Cost: $9:00 Children under 12 $4:00.

  • Birthday and Penny Drive Sunday

3:00 pm - Service of Remembrance & Call for Action
  • A call to end violence against women and hate crimes in general as we mark the 20th anniversary of the tragic 1989 Montreal Massacre.


Tuesday, December 8


7:00 pm - UCW Christmas Stocking Party (Chipman United)
  • All are invited to a special Christmas Stocking Worship followed by an evening  of fun and refreshments.


Sunday, December 13

11:15 am - Advent 3 Wishing (Chipman United)
  • The Blessing of the Christmas Stocking and Food Bank Sunday
    Please bring Stove Top Stuffing and/or Canned Cranberries for the Christmas Hampers at Community Care.
7:00 pm - Celtic Christmas (Gaspereau United)
  • At Christmas the Celts feel that the thin veil that separates heaven from earth disappears. Please join us for this festive service which will capture the wonder and mystery of Jesus’ birth in it’s rhythmic liturgy and rousing music. This service will set your feet a- tapping and your heart a- dancing!

3:00 pm - Advent 4 Welcoming (Gaspereau United)
  • Blue Christmas
    This quiet, reflective and meaningingful service is especially for those who because of grief, sickness, or loss of relationship do not feel the joy they normally feel this Christmas Season.

  • A Mystery at Christmas
    Family Service with Communion

8:00 pm - Christmas Eve (Gaspereau United)
  • The Mystery of Christmas
    Candlelight & Communion

  • Old Fashioned Christmas Concert at Chipman Heritage Centre
    Tickets: $6.00 adults $3.00 students available at Village Office or Doherty’s Grocery


Wednesday, December 2

7:00 pm - MEMORIAL TREE LIGHTING
  • The Chipman Funeral Home
    Memorial bulbs in memory of loved ones are available at various locations. Special Music and refreshments will be served. Proceeds will support the Chipman Youth Centre.
